Herzberg's Two-Factor Theory

Also known as Motivation-Hygiene Theory

About the Theory

Herzbergs Two-Factor Theory explains that job satisfaction and job dissatisfaction are caused by two different sets of factors: Hygiene Factors and Motivators. Improving salary alone does not create motivation. True motivation comes from growth, achievement, and recognition.

In Short

No Hygiene Factors → Dissatisfaction
Only Hygiene Factors → Neutral Feeling
Hygiene + Motivators → High Motivation & Satisfaction
